Wanderers Cricket

was formed in 1983 and the club has become a hub for community sports and events. Playing at the Brightwater Domain, Wanderers are now an established cricket club in Nelson, boasting a membership of over 125 senior and junior members. Over the years Wanderers has produced Central Districts reps and Nelson Griffins players.

 

We welcome and encourage people of all abilities to come down and join us, we will provide playing opportunities that you desire.

2 day competition, 1 day competition, T20, men’s, women’s and juniors.

Achievements

 

Wanderers Cricket Club enjoyed an excellent 2 day competitive record during a 13 season period between 1993/94 to 2005/06 being successful champions on 9 occasions including sharing the National 1 day club title in 1999.

 

In addition the 1 day title has been claimed by Wanderers Cricket Club 7 times. The return to Premier Status supported by Motueka Cricket Club will be a huge step to achieving the club's vision for the future, as well as ensuring promotion of the sport in the Tasman region, but specifically in the Motueka/Wakefield/Brightwater area.

To create an environment that promotes education, health and wellbeing in the community through active participation in the sport of cricket in order for players of all ages and abilities to be able to reach their potential.

 

We will do this by focusing on four strategic areas:

Coaching and Coach Education – Obtaining the services of a quality, qualified coach, able to conduct coach training and education within our club and the general region, raising the standard of coaching at all levels of play.


Community Engagement – Instilling a positive culture that respects and recognizes the value of each volunteer, coach, manager, sponsor, supporter, umpire and player within our club.


Participation – Create an enjoyable and safe environment that encourages participation for all ages and levels of ability, extending the involvement through play and social media interaction with an emphasis on child and youth friendly activities. Enabling each player to play at the level to which they aspire.


Finance and Facilities – Providing top class facilities and ensuring financial sustainability.
